Back again

I haven't written on my blog for a very long time.  I've been busy with my practice and with travels and family but want to start to reconnect with this process and with folk who might have read my book and want to continue to follow my musings. I am thinking very seriously of following up with a book for men who are going through a separation and divorce but am not certain that men would read it. If anyone wants to give me their opinion about this, I would appreciate it.

I also want to compose something to help teens through this process as well and will require a cartoonist who can put my thoughts into cartoons to exemplify  and concretize the issue.

Very early Christmas morning

It's slightly after 7 on Christmas morning and I'm the first one up.  Coffee is on and I am taking advantage of the peace and quiet and the simple fact that I have some free time before the excitement begins to write a few words in this blog. I've sadly neglected writing here.

My book is now published and I am pursuing marketing possibilities.  Now the hard work begins...marketing is an area that I have minimal experience in...However, I have met my goal of having that book out and published and have learned so much about writing.  We'll see what 2013 brings in terms of getting that book out there!

I'm also thinking of when I first divorced and for the first Christmas had divided the day with my ex so that I didn't have the kids in the morning.  That was my first Christmas since they were born that I didn't wake up with the presence of my kids in the house and I remember how down and devastated that I felt.  I forgot to talk about that in my book but it can be excruciatingly difficult but is so normal.  How can something so hard be normal? Time did pass and I survived but the important thing again was to make life as normal and happy on that day as it could be for the children. No shame in tears and shaking one's proverbial fist at the moon! Making rituals happen for the kids was important and now that my guys are older they can reflect on their occurrence and talk about their experience. We all survived! Now that my kids are adults and have significant others in their lives we divide their time over the holidays between several houses, and we all have some hard-earned experience in doing that.  I apologize to my kids for their needing to do it so early.  They call the moving between houses "house pong" and talk about how hard it is/was for them.

But enough. Experiencing Christmas day and celebrating the wonderful world we live in is at this moment paramount!

Still working away at the book

I had visions of the book being published and on shelves by this time but the process is much slower than anticipated.  It's a small but hopefully helpful book but I would have liked it to be available to clients and clinicians working with divorcing women much faster than has occurred. My hope is that it will bep rinted by early December.  We'll see!

My book

Well, I'm still working away on completing my book, titled  AND THEY LIVED.....HAPPILY NEVER  AFTER?

Just making final punctuation corrections to the proof and then off to the printers.  Hallelujah!  It's not a thick tome but hopefully a handy book for women who are struggling with separation and divorce and need some basic information about negotiating the process and surviving!!  So stay tuned!
